We’ve been down the disappointing Terminator sequel route time and time again post the classic T2: Judgement Day. So much so that when I saw the mixed reaction to the recent Terminator: Dark Fate trailer I got it. I could see where fans were coming from but I do not share their fear. The reason I don’t is because I trust the talent behind this film. Tim Miller (Deadpool) directs and he’s boss. Deadpool, forget about it being a great comic book movie, is a lean and brilliantly directed action movie.

Miller’s razor sharp focus on action and character is a great match for a franchise like Terminator. Then there’s Jim Cameron back on story duty, having had a hand in coming up with the film’s main narrative and being the most hands on with the development of the film since his original movies.  Yet it is Linda Hamilton who is the main draw here for many fans and rightly so. The folks behind Dark Fate know this too. Sarah Connor is front and centre on the film’s poster (Arnie is nowhere in sight) and the trailer focuses a lot on the fact that Sarah is back and kicking cyborg ass.

The footage looks good. Yea some of the effects look a bit …not awesome but so what? The film’s still a while away and they have time to work on some CGI and word is the film will will use a lot of practical effects. So let’s see how it all plays out first in regards to all that. The reason why the original Terminator has lasted the test of time is not a big secret. It’s due to the fact the film knows what it is and is made well. It’s a chase movie mixed up with a series of action beats and there’s no fat whatsoever on the flick. Miller knows this and that’s what his film, Cameron going as far to call this the true sequel to his two legacy movies, looks to be.

Sure, Dark Fate probably won’t reinvent the wheel but what it could do is offer a kick arse Terminator movie, which isn’t bogged down by a needlessly complicated plot and reminds fans why they fell in love with this world in the first place.

I like this trailer and I have a good feeling about this movie. I hope you do too. We don’t have long to wait. Terminator: Dark Fate hits screens this November.

The first official look at Tim Miller (Deadpool) and James Cameron’s Terminator reboot popped up online this week. In it we see the leading ladies (Linda Hamilton, Mackenzie Davis and Natalia Reyes) of the film looking tough and ready to take on whatever threat may come their way!

Fans of the Terminator series are excited to have Hamilton back as Sarah Connor. I think she looks awesome. Details on Davis and Reyes characters are slim but both are thought to be the leads of the film. Arnold Schwarzenegger is back too as the Terminator but will he be a good guy or face off against Sarah Connor yet again? We will have to wait and see.

Cameron and Miller have stated that this, like this years Halloween, will ignore all of the sequels post T2: Judgement Day. Cameron going as far to say he looks at this as the true third chapter in the Terminator saga he began back in the early 1980’s. The icing on the cake would be if they could manage to get T1 and T2 composer Brad Fiedel back to compose the score. Wouldn’t that be awesome?

Terminator is due out late next year. I would not hold your breath for a trailer this year seeing as the film is a ways out yet.

Exciting news guys. After a long search James Cameron and Tim Miller have found the actress who will lead the brand new “Terminator” movie. Her name is Natalia Reyes and she is from Colombia. Reyes is unknown in Hollywood but is already established on both television and film in her home country. “Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D.” and “True Detective” breakout Gabriel Luna has also been added to the cast and will take on the role of one of the films lead characters.

Both actors join the already confirmed Arnold Schwarzenegger, Linda Hamilton, Diego Boneta and Mackenzie Davis. All of the actors will soon begin training for what will no doubt be an action heavy shoot, which is due to kick off next month.

From what I’ve been able to gather about the film – and holding back on some stuff  – this new entry in the series will take place in Mexico City,  be more akin to the original movie and will focus on Reye’s “Dani”. There’s info out there on who Davis, Boneta and Luna are playing but if I was you I’d try and go in knowing as little as possible. Unless the trailer decides to give everything away. I will say expect a lot of strong ladies kicking all kinds of arse.

Tim Miller and James Cameron’s untitled “Terminator” movie will hit screens late 2019.
